I never thought Michael Crichton’s “utterly boring” ‘The Lost World’ would be one of them.īut there you have it. I’m not into the idea of re-reading books, but there are a few out there – mostly the really good ones – that I admit I would be interested in reading again at some point. And since it was all ages ago, and I never even finished it, I could barely remember enough of it to reform my opinion.
Except I didn’t want to alter the rating because then I would have to write another review. And I willingly gave it a one-star rating on Goodreads when I joined up.Įxcept … I’ve recently found myself looking back and thinking, “Was it really that bad?”.ĭoes it really deserve to be placed in the same dismal category as ’50 Shades’, and all my other most hated reading experiences?. I’ve always looked back on it as being awful. I was only about fifteen, and I didn’t care for any of that I just wanted to read about people getting eaten – which, dissimilar to the movie, there isn’t that much of, anyway. It still had its few good moments, but the scientific-based dialogue more than ruined everything else. And I found ‘The Lost World’ to be completely, utterly boring. Maybe the film does suck, but I still like it, despite its many downfalls.Īnd so, when I came across the novel’s sequel, I was more than excited about reading it.īut in those days I wasn’t much into reading if a book didn’t hold me captivated, I put it down. It’s a lazy sequel - it’s much too over the top - and it’s noticeably a bit too dark and mean-spirited in comparison to the almost magical, theme-park-ride style of the first film.īut having said that, I still can’t deny that I’ve always found a guilty pleasure in that one as well.
#WATCH JURASSIC PARK THE LOST WORLD MOVIE#
Now, ‘The Lost World’ – the film, I’m talking about – was always deemed a terrible movie by all my friends, by most critics, and by me at a certain points.
I enjoyed it, but I also realized the superiority of the film. It’s a lazy sequel - it’s much too over the top - and it’s noticeably a bit too dark and mean-spirited in comparison to the almost magical, theme-p I’ve always loved the ‘Jurassic Park’ films, and I remember finally picking up the original Crichton novel when I was about fourteen.
